Unhappy Carb Problems

Yesterday after running well for the last 2 months my truck sputtered to a stop. I could start it back up but only with the choke all the way out, as soon as I hit the accelerator pedal it bogged down and quit. Got towed home immediately ordered a carb rebuld kit (I've got the 223 M/T). Spent all day today rebulding the carb, she started right up and ran better than ever. Went out for a ride for the first 10 minutes no problems then the engine bogged down and quit. Messed with the idle screw and the choke got another mile or so and she quit again. Again I can start it up with the choke all the way out but as soon as I hit the gas pedal, bogs and stall. The carb was very dirty when I rebilut and cleaned it, lots on caked on brown gunk in the float area, but I cleaned it exceedingly well. The Fuel pump is 2 months old and the gas is clean entering the carb. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the help,
Stinky

Had a Similar problem a little while ago, Turned out to be the Petrol Pump Konking out on me.
Change your Petrol Pump out & Blow your petrol lines clear, just to be on the Safe side, for blockage from possible Kunk from the Carb.

Stinky, I'm having similar problems with my 1960 223. I'm suspecting the fuel pump. I disconnected the line near the carb and watched how much fuel was being pumped when I turned it over. It appeared to be a sickly looking piddle to me, I thought there should be a more robust stream.

OK, got the problem fixrd, the good news it was a clogged fuel filter, bad news I rebuilt a carb for no reason - no matter it was good training I guess. Billsco make sure you have a fresh inline fuel filter before you replace your fuel pump, when I removed the line it was a sickly trickle as well, the new filter solved everything -I guess I should heed my own advice and check the simple stuff first.

"Simple stuff" is good, but I live by "Check the cheapest stuff first." Good luck, John
