guessing your looking at a DRW f350 6.7. thats the only way to get 4.10s. deeper gears like the 4.10, generally reduce mpg vs higher gears like a 3.55. with the 10spd it may not be as noticeable
Does a 2021 f 350 diesel with 410 waste more diesel?
It could use more fuel, but whether it is wasted or not is subjective.
The 4.10 gives it the ability to tow/haul more weight easier, so if you need that then the extra fuel isn't wasted.
My 2017 F350 Dually had the 4.10 rear end. With it's 6 speed I saw about 13.8 mpg combined hwy/city fuel economy. My 2021 F450 has the 4.30 rear end and I'm seeing 15.5 mpg combined hwy/city economy. In my experience the 10 speed auto makes a big difference. If you need all the potential tow capacity of the truck then you want the 4.10.

Well said. If you drive around empty, or tow light loads, then 4.10 might be a little overkill. But they shine when towing heavy.
Me personally, I much prefer the lower gears (higher number) for everything. The MPG difference is really a moot point….~1mpg or so
My 2021 F350 Dually cc 6.7 gets 16.5 mpg around town ,My 2020 F350 cc 6.7 got the same mpg around town .I have not run the 2021 dually for a long trip empty yet ,but I gust got back from a trip to the WV mountains with the 2021 dually with a 5200 lbs truck camper and got 13.8 mpg from north east Ohio to harpers ferry and to Black water falls lots of mountains . Ops the 2020 srw had 3.55s and the 2021 dually has 4.10s

ATC is correct. The difference in non-towing MPG is minimal.
Sweeperman, my condolences and gratitude. I appreciate and value the sacrifice your family has made.
