check engine light
My 99 expedition 5.4 just turned 75000 and shortly after my check engine light came on. Is this a mileage light for the dealer to make $$$? In searching this doesn't appear to be the case. Unfortunately living in sunny socal, my local autozones can no longer check this for me. Fortunately I have a friend who works at a jeep dealer that will test it so I don't have to cough up $85 for the stealer to do so. Besides the light, it runs great. I have disconnected the battery to clear the code and it went away for a few days, but it's back now. Hopefully this is just a quick fix and I can stop worrying about it. So my questions are is this a mileage light and is there a list on-line somewhere that shows the codes and possible solutions?

Assuming that all maintenance is properly taken care of like clean air filter, etc. ... if you haven't cleaned the MAF sensor wires lately, do that. It's a frequent cause of the warning light before a serioius degrade in performance happens.
