C series VIn

Howdy NumberDummy,
I have just purchased two C series trucks.
1971 C750 VIN: C75EVL55142
Could you tell me what the engine code on this represents (E?) and the VL confuses me - is it from two plants? (V-Kentucky, L-Michigan)

1962 C950 VIN: C95RU300266
Could you tell me what the engine code on this represents (R)?

Many thanks sir!

C75EVL55142

C75 = C750

E = 361 2V FT gas V8

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

L55142 = 1971 series number

C95RU300266

C95 = C950

R = 534 4V Super Duty gas (hog) V8

U = Louisville Assembly Plant

300266 = 1962 series number, June 1962 production date

534s and their smaller 401 & 477 brothers are hard to get parts for. Real hard.

Numberdummy is a less frequent visitor these days, much to our detriment.

I have given you your own thread for these trucks so as to not mix you in with prior questions and information.
