78 F150 4 speed problems
Been working on a 1978 F150 with a 351w and the t18 4 speed. Just got the truck driving after sitting and it shifted fine the first few days but the transmission is not working quite right since then. I can take off in granny low and reverse works good as well. It will also shift into 1st usually but after that I try to shift to second and the stick will go fully into the right spot/gate but the gear won’t catch if that makes any sense, as I’ll hit the rpms up and the truck just goes the same speed or slows down. Double clutching or floating do not seem to help and the trans does not grind at all. My guess is shift forks or synchros but don’t have much experience so would take advice if you have any. Was wondering if the synchros or shift forks could be replaced through the access cover or if the transmission needs to be pulled for that.
