Hello to all you enthusiasts. I’m new to this sight. I got retired out of the military lifestyle after almost 25 years. I’ve decided to use what mechanical skills I have to help our less fortunate senior citizens with automotive problems and trying to make it on their Social Security income.

I am currently working on a 2015 F350 King Ranch with a 6.7 engine. The current problem it has is AC not cooling at this point. When I started it did cool going down the road but not at an idle. At first glance it appeared the engine cooling fan was a bit slow. Sure enough when I put a broom against it, it easiely stopped. So I replaced it and you can no longer stop it. But still isn’t repaired. I hooked up a set of gauges. I noticed when I removed the low pressure cap it was pressured up indicating a schrader valve leak. The low side pressure was low at 20psi and the high side was reaching 375 cycling off and back on at 200 psi. The low side would not take in refrigerant. With the low side leak I thought maybe it had air in the system so I replaced the valve and vacuumed it down. It pulled down to 30. I let it set overnight and it still was down to 20 the next day. I attempted to recharge but it would only receive 6oz. So I presumed a blockage. So I replaced the expansion valve, vacuumed and attempted to recharge. Still received no more than 6oz. Then I replaced the filter/drier/condenser, vacuumed and attempted to recharge. Still would only receive only 6oz. Then I replaced the compressor, vacuumed and attempted to recharge. This time I was able to get it to receive 14oz of refrigerant but then the high side rose to 375 and the ac clutch started smelling hot. Does anybody have an idea what might be going on or what I’m missing. Please help me to help these elderly hard working great Americans now trying to survive on the Social Security they paid into for so long.

Looks like you got a good reply over in this thread. I'm curious how this turned out.
