Question on ordering 22 superduty

Does anyone know what package or option is required on the xlt trim level to get the 8” productivity screen. I can’t seem to find it and I don’t think it comes with the xlt premium package.

thanks for the help

The XLT comes standard with the 8” Sync3 screen (radio screen). If you are talking about the 8” instrument screen in the dash above the steering wheel, you have to step up to a Lariat for that one.

Ok, yeah I am talking about the instrument screen above the steering column. I thought it was an option on the xlt but I guess not. Bummer

Tremor package will add it, but you cant get an XLT Tremor anymore. I also think the UTT package will add it but they may not be allowing that with an XLT anymore either...

The UTT will not get you the 8" cluster screen in an XLT (included a screenshot for the UTT on the XLT), but I wish it did... As for the Tremor package, it's not available anymore, so there's that, but from what I remember, even the Tremor package didn't upgrade the 4.2 productivity screen in the cluster. Everything I saw to get the larger 8" cluster display was to go to the Lariat... maybe I'm wrong though... I didn't even consider the Tremor package, so didn't spend a ton of time looking at the options and features too closely.

It is my understanding that if you get fancy cameras on the XLT, such as Pro Trailer Backup or UTT, then that get's you the 8" instrument cluster. Other people disagree, and I am not 100% sure as the order guide is somewhat vague and there are so few (or none) trucks to look at on the lots.

I'm hoping my XLT Premium with PTBA will have the 8" cluster. If not, I will console myself with the notion that the smaller screen cluster has "real" gauges, not virtual gauges, and if the screen fails the truck will still be drivable. My major peeve about my 07 F-150 is electronic systems failures, radio, airbags, ABS because of the switch to RoHS compliant solder, which is grossly inferior to real, lead based solder. IMHO anyway.

So if I get the 4" screen I'll just suck it up and be happy, anyway. There are determined people out there who have swapped out the 4" cluster for the 8" and it works fine if you really can't live without it.

The only XLT trucks I have seen with the 8" gauge cluster were all Tremor optioned. That option is now dead.

I wish you were right, but again, everything I have came across indicates that the 4.2" instrument cluster is all you get in an XLT, regardless of packages added at time of order. Now, aftermarket swaps are a different story... But I also really wanted the larger instrument display, but wasn't prepared to go to the Lariat just for that...

Check out the 2022 Super Duty Order Guide:

On the chart on page 9 it lists the XLT as having the 4.2" LCD Productivity Screen, and the Lariat's and above have the 8" screen. There is nothing indicating it could be otherwise...

Then, on pages 17-22 it lists out all optional equipment for the XLT's. The only mention I see of the Productivity screen is on the top of page 21 under Audio, which states that the XLT comes with the 8" Center stack and the 4.2" Productivity Screen in IP cluster as standard. No where else do I see the Productivity screen even mentioned, let alone an option to change it to a different option...

Then, on page 32, the Tremor (17Y), the HCTT w/ UTT (53Q) and the UTT (53R) packages are all listed, with all the requirements and the added options for those specific packages. Unfortunately, nowhere in the listed requirements or the items included for any of these packages is the Productivity Screen even listed.

FWIW, the only screen that I have seen upgraded is if you add the UTT package to an XL, at which point the Center Stack screen goes from a 4" screen to an 8" screen, which is required because the UTT needs Sync3 and that comes on the larger 8" center stack screen. Nowhere else have I seen any screens being upgraded due to options... Maybe y'all have seen this and confused it with the XL/XLT and the center stack/productivity screens?

(Note that this is for the 2022 Super Duties. I haven't looked to see if things were different for 20's and 21's, which they could have been.)

(Also, note that the PTBA is part of the UTT package... those are not 2 different/separate packages. However, you can get the UTT (53R) on it's own, the HCTT (535) on it's own, or combine them and get the HCTT w/ UTT (53Q). But, no matter how you order it, if you order the UTT package, then the PTBA feature is part of that package. It appears that the UTT is simply made up of the (1.) 360 camera's, and the (2.) PTBA feature. Personally, I wish these were split up because I didn't want the PTBA, just the 360 camera's.)

So, I still say that if you want the 8" productivity screen, you will need to step up to the Lariat, or do an aftermarket swap. However, it seems the XLT may be the black sheep of the trim groups and they may keep stealing parts from these lesser expensive builds to complete the higher trim builds, so stepping up to a Lariat would definitely get you the larger productivity screen, and possibly get your truck faster.. but of course, it would also take more money out of your pocket and into Fords...

I agree with that. There taking a lot away from the xlt. I want just the super cab with 6 3/4 bed and that is optioned different in the lariat trims as well. But I do really like the looks of the lariat sports package. But not sure it’s worth the extra dough for painted trim and a bigger gauge cluster

The 2022 Ford Superduty Order Guide is the definitive source for these questions. It may be somewhere on this forum, but can definitely be found on the BOF.

The upgraded screen was offered as part of the XLT Premium Package on early 2017 trucks. I actually saw one at Worthington Ford, Long Beach, CA. By the time we got my sons 2018 XLT (12-17 build date) they had removed it from the package. Not offered since, to my knowledge.

That is what I referenced and quoted from in my post above, which indictates that the 8” productivity screen is simply not an option on the 22 XLT’s regardless of what options are chosen.

In my opinion, at this point, it should be offered in XLT’s and above as standard. It’s just Ford’s way of forcing people to go to the more expensive Lariats. That hand is being felt more now with them holding out options on the XLTs so they can use them in the higher trims.
