Howdy y'all! I have a 1995 f150 5.0L v8 eddie bauer, 4x4
I was wondering if anyone has replaced the a/c system in these OBS Fords. Its annoying that the air keeps switching between the defrost vents and the normal air vents. Just wonderin if there's any upgrade system/kit or something to eliminate the vacuum lines for the A/C sytem?
No need to retrofit to a different system. I don’t have that problem. Have you checked the white vacuum line out by the hood hinge? Is the vacuum reservoir still there and functioning? Repair the vacuum line(s) and your problem will disappear.
I agree. I had some weird problems with my 94 F250 that were very frustrating. All were solved by repairing the old cracked and broken plastic vacuum lines. Also, my compressor was starting to leak at the front seal so I replaced it, and the receiver dryer. Now I have a very efficient AC, it blows between 40 and 45 degrees. The first thing to check is that white line by the passenger side hood hinge, mine was completely rotted away and gone. But anyway sounds like a vacuum problem and it's just a matter of tracking it down. I would suggest hooking up a vacuum gauge in various locations and look for fluctuation. If the blower airflow is going back and forth from the dash vents to defrost it sounds like vacuum fluctuation. Bad actuator? Cracked line?
