my steering wheel in my '74 dump truck is all busted up junk. i have a '77 dodge truck/van column with a good wheel on it, wonder if the spline diameter interchanges possibly? i cant find a early mid 70s ford wheel anywhere. not possible.
You have to make sure they are like-for-like though, in that the diameter of the "bell" part might be slightly different from one model to another, OR the horn contact points might be different if the particular vehicle used a horn relay or not.
Most trucks of our vintage all the way back to the dark ages used a horn relay, but every once in awhile Ford threw a wrench in the works. My '79 F350 for example did NOT have a horn relay (so i added my own), so the backside of the wheel might have had a different contact point layout.
I know for a fact that this is the case with Broncos, but I can't say for sure that the wheels are different between the trucks because I have never had two side-by-side to compare. It's possible that Ford utilized the same turn signal switch and horn contact layout for all and simply changed the wiring scheme. But I don't know that either, as the two are pretty different electrically speaking.
Unless someone chimes in that has done exactly this, or has at least compared Dodge stuff to Ford, you may just have to bite the bullet and pull your wheel and compare the backsides.
If they don't work, take pics of the back of the wheel and the turn signal switch layout and re-install your wheel to drive it still while you hunt down a compatible wheel.
Just jogged my memory. I put a non-cruise 80-86 wheel on my formerly cruise ‘87 and had to rearrange the wires to get the horn button working, just by repinning the connector to avoid hacking anything.
if you can wait, I can pull you a wheel next time at the yard.
73-77 steering wheel not impossible to find, just finding a cheap one is dang near impossible. Well use a steering wheel puller and pop of the Ford one and dodge one and do a test fit, or shop below.

Well dang my Google FO must be way off. Sorry, maybe you can get the van one from NorthCali. This guy below has a D44 AND a Dana 60 in his pic, and has listed the D44 $500.00. I wonder if he knows the difference? https://mattoon.craigslist.org/pts/d...350874084.html
