How Hard Is It To Drain The Tank? I Messed Up I Think
Do you have to drop the tank?
Mine was about half full and I did a bonehead move.
I was in a hurry and filled it up from an auxiliary on-road tank I had in a building on the yard that I thought had diesel that was only a few months old.
The equipment and generators run fine out of these tanks no problem.
Later on, I filled up a clear bottle with that same diesel and it was yellow, not green.
Looks like the diesel separated in the aux tank.
After further thought, that diesel might be nearly a year old.
I have element filters on the tanks, so Im not too worried about water. But I just dont know what 1/2 a tank of yellow diesel mixed with 1/2 a tank of fresh diesel is going to do to my 6.7

I wouldn't worry about it. You've already ran it yes? If so any damage done, is done, and I'd bet there wasn't any. If you want a little peace of mind, get yourself a good diesel additive and go heavy on the dose.
This is kinda like a bullet that just left the barrel. You have to own up to what it does, but there ain't no stopping it.
If it was gasoline or DEF, then yes stop the presses and take the whole damn $ h!terie apart. But some possibly year old diesel? <shrugs> Don't get me wrong though, I sure as heck wouldn't want to have to run it in my truck

the only concern is that old diesel absorbs water over time, has algae, and wax from the cold.
your filters will help for the algae and wax, but not for the emulsified water. you need a high performance water separator for that. adding a water de-emulsifier agent will hep drop the water out of the diesel and into your water separator.
me personally would add a de-emulsifier agent and a lube agent.
