47 1/2 ton

are the 40/41 rear fenders same as 42/47 rears, one of my rears off my 47 is in rough shape and I have found a guy who has 40/41 s and says he believes they are the same, if anyone knows please let me know, thanks a lot

They are not the same, they look it, but not

could they be modified ot fit by someone with limited metalworking skills

I think the width is different. '41 and older beds are 3" narrower than the '42 and up beds.

Whoa! Don’t cut the 40/41s! The 42-47 rears are different. The bed is indeed wider for 42-47, and the track width is wider. The 40/41s are worth much much more too. You could sell those and buy 3 pairs of 42-47s.
