Did you get wiring and miscellaneous vacuum hoses and ancilliary items from donor trucks or did you use NOS and repo stuff?
Truck looks great, congrats - Pete
Thanks, Pete. Fixing the wiring was one of the easier parts of the repair. I was able to use bulk wire to rebuild the harnesses except for the hood lamp, which was melted beyond recognition, and for that I found a used one at a wrecking yard. The A/C compressor wiring that ran across the firewall was the worst one, but still a simple fix. After repairing I wrapped it in new plastic split loom and even saved the factory ID tag so it looks stock still. The temp sender wire, choke wire and some coil wiring was pretty much the rest of it for harness repair. New Taylor plug wires and the air cleaner, carb and intake came from Summit. Vacuum, water and fuel hoses and fittings came from the local auto parts store. Truly, it looked worse than it was. The bulk of the damage was to the emission control parts, and much of that mysteriously didn't get replaced.
Oh no, she's a keeper, and a working truck. Right now she's parked out back with a bed full of dump run yard debris.
Can't find rust free trucks around here unless they are fresh off the dealers lot and I'm not interested in any of them...lol You're lucky to be in an area where they either use no salt and very limited amounts of it..
