So more first world problems for the board here... Looking to be difficult to get a truck, which is nothing new I know. I have a dealer willing to order but I had a second dealer tell me '21 ordering is closed '22 ordering hasn't opened and they do not know when it will. Quoting 4-6 months IF they can place an order. I do not know how accurate any of this is and both are wanting msrp on an ordered truck.
So since what I want is a bit of a unicorn configuration, maybe there in one out there close enough to meet my needs. Is there a way regular folks can search beyond the 100 mile limit on the Ford website? Maybe I just find zip codes for the big metro areas and do the 100 mile search in each of them?
I would like an extended cab 4x4 STX or XLT with a 7.3 not white.
you can also try cars.com.. just change the distance to anywhere...here is a search from all miles from my zip code. extended cab, gas motor (not sure of 6.2 or 7.3) and not white....

Huh? Correct me if I'm wrong (been there often), but I thought a "unicorn" in the pickup realm was a gas-powered dually.

That's the unicorn that farts rainbows... The one I want is slightly less rare. LOL Everything within 500 miles of me is a four door, mostly diesels...

You definitely need another dealer, the one you are talking to doesn't know what he's talking about.
And, you obviously haven't read through the discussion topics on here, because LOTS of guys have 2022's on order and many are scheduled for build already.
2022 production starts this month.
So, find another dealer and order the truck you want, the way you want it.
I was a my dealership a few days ago. Not a single super duty on the lot and only a coulpm150s. I’m not currently in the market , but it makes me wonder how I’d get a replacement if something happened to my truck. I d have a hard time being with out a truck for more than a couple of days.

You know, it is becoming clear to me after just a couple of posts that you and I are like oil and water sir. If you read the post I stated I have a dealer, the nearest one to me, ready to order me a truck when I go in there on Monday. I checked with another dealer and they gave me different information, which was clearly wrong. Please do not tell me what I have or have not read, that is a pretty offensive way to respond, you horses patoot... There are not Ford dealers growing on trees where I live. Closest one is 30 miles from the house, the second one I checked with is about 50 miles away, next closest 2 are over a 100 mile drive each way.

Thanks Ron, I am just going to place an order and see how it goes. I wish I could talk myself into one of the other brands who could deliver a new vehicle more quickly but I just can't... I hope Ford continues to streamline the new orders as best they can. I would like a new truck this summer but don't NEED the new truck until just before winter. If it looks like the wait will extend into November I will just cancel and try again next year.

On 5/24 I placed and order on a 22 XLT 6.7 and it has the UTT package. Unfortunately, this is the model that is not being scheduled until for their notice… So the other day I did the 100 mile search in the Ford site and unless I was looking at KR or above, most everything I saw that was “in transit” or “just arrived” was the 7.3… Some Lariats were diesel, but not many and I really don’t even want a lariat. So finding an XLT in diesel in my area is about slim to none, and never mind having the features I want. The dealers can’t pass up the chrome package and navigation on the XLT’s, neither of which I want. And they don’t seem to want to put the HCTT package on an XLT, or even the tailgate step.
I really don’t want to settle for the 7.3, but I may have to start looking at them more…
The diesel is the single biggest reason I’m buying a new truck. I’m not knocking the 7.3, but it’s not why I want by any means, and even if I end up with one I’ll be looking to get rid of it and go with what I wanted to begin with fairly quickly.
