2013 F150 with 3.5 EB. Getting close to 50K miles (yes, that less than 6K per year). Time to change plugs. Removed 8mm bolt, unplugged connector. It seems that the boots are frozen on the plugs. Any tricks to pull coil pack without destroying ?
Just a little wiggle here and there should do the trick. The rubber boot is nice and snug to keep moisture out. Be sure to check the boots once you get them out and replace them if they are dried, cracked, or torn. Good luck, don't over think it though.
Well the boots have to get replaced anyway so pull them and twist.
Twist then pull once they break free. You should know if you just yank on them they will tear and leave you with a stuck boot piece in a very difficult place to extract.
OP here. Twisting and pulling was no joy. I was able to get a piece of parachute cord under the bolt down tang and the electrical plug. With the additional ability to pull and twisting it finally popped loose. Pulled the front plug on the passenger side and it still looks good. Gap was about .032 and the boot looks like new. Think I will just let it go for now. Thanks for your input.
