manuel lever position sensor?

Is there another name for this sensor? Just called my local auto part store and they had no clue what it was.

Not really...neutral switch? It just mounts to sthe shift shaft lever at the trans so, maybe neutral switch? Range selector sensor? I've always heard it refered to by the MLPS though.

Thanks for the quick reply! He did say he has (or can get) a neutral safety switch, but had no pics to tell me where it is located. Guess I will have to call the dealer. ($$$$$$$)

The Haynes manual calls it a 4wd Indicator Switch.

After reading many of the e4od posts here I thought it would be the logical thing to try.
The trans shifts hard and seems to hunt for the proper gear sometime. It seems to like to shift to early especially with O/D engaged. Around 2 months ago I was driving hy-way speeds for around 20 min. and O/D stop working altogether. It started to work after it cooled down and I haven't put it in O/D since.

The tranny was rebuilt 60 thousand ks ago and has had 2 oil changes since.

Oh..okay, good luck with it. I'm not sure your truck has that switch (sensor), sounds like it may be a modulator problem if that don't work.
