40,000 miles without a single problem. Today after 100 uneventful miles driven, smoke under hood, loud bang, then fire from under hood near R wheel well. Smoke into cabin and fire thru dash between wheel and screen. All guages were normal. ??? Any thoughts. Suspect electrical origin but why And where.f250 6.7L Lariat 2017 Correction - drivers wheelwell
2017 F250 Lariet 6.7L. All guages normal. Smoke from hood, then bang then fire more located driver side out wheelwell. Tires ok. Fire dept put out fire. Looks totaled. Don’t think fuel filters changed. 40,000 miles mostly Highway
Towing? When was the last time the fuel filters were changed? Photos or video?...Drivers side is referred to as the left side by most, I see the correction now.

As in fuel filters have never been changed? If yes, I’m guessing upper filter housing split and fuel spray ignited. It’s also located drivers side in the area you noted fire.
Wonder if thats why there removing the service light on the 2022's? lol just kidding thats to high!
Ill have to look in thats area on mine tomorrow, I drive a 2017 with a 6.7 also but i have 160,000 km on mine (about 100,000 miles)
I think this should highlight the importance of carrying your own fire extinguisher in your truck, not just for the OP but for others reading as well. Vehicles burn pretty quickly, and having to wait for the fire dept. to show up to help will almost certainly mean it is totaled by the time they arrive.

I think if my engine bay had a fire I'd just let it burn. Why mess with it and risk more problems down the road. Most of the wiring would melt by the time you could pop the hood enough to actually extinguish it.

I carry hot dogs and a long stick just in case it gets to hot(-; I do carry a fire extinguisher with me. I have used one once on a Trail Blazer a few years ago. It was still totaled out, but some parts where still good.
To me the fire extinguisher is less about saving the truck, and more about stopping other **** from catching on fire. I spend a fair amount of time in Eastern WA. Those poor *******s don't need any extra help getting a wildfire going...
