As for the duraspark box, i can answer your question. You can buy them from any autoparts place. Typically you want one of the "blue strain" boxes or one thats 49 states emissions legal.

Sorry i can't help you with the other part of your question, but i hope this helps you out...

Try ANYTHING made by Ford in the late 70's to mid '80's. The harness is basically the same for trucks, Pintos, Rangers, Fairmonts, Lincolns, anything with an engine. Duraspark saw very widespread use. The only thing I know to watch for is making sure the harness is long enough for what you want to do. That and be sure the largest of the plugins has 4 connector pins in it. The older "brown grommet" boxes used only 4 pins.
If all else fails, you can make your own harness if you're comfortable making good crimp connections. In another forum here I ran across a nice link to a full color diagram. Unfortunately I didn't think to save it, but it's out there somewhere. It's not like there's that many wires involved anyway.

yea it is not a problem making connections.....i can't tell you how much stuff i have wired or had to rewire because the factory harness was falling apart. yea my box has a 4pin connector and a 2 pin...also does it matter what v8 it comes out of or does it have to be a 351w....i am thinking of taking a trip to the scrapyard before the snow comes. what about the under dash thing though?????

thanks

V8, 4cylinder, V6, doesn't matter. I just "borrowed" one from a 2.8 Bronco II for testing in a 5.0 Mustang. Works fine. I won't bother putting it back.
Just watch out for the blue strain relief if you're looking for a box and the 4 pin plug. I've run into a couple of connectors that were decayed enough that I just cut them off and used crimp connectors instead. The connectors tend to get brittle from heat and age.

DS II Wire Harness Part Number: FOD7JL-12A200-CB. I got mine from Sanderson Ford in Arizona. Your Ford dealer should have it. If not, call 1800-367-3673 or 623-842-8682, and ask for "Specialty Parts". They ship. The one drawback is the cost. $140.00!

I read your post when it first came out. I just got my truck hooked up. I just wanted to make sure that any problems I had were not attributed to the harness. It has some other wires attached for the coil. It also has the coil adapter. In addition to the four pin plug, which is the connection you are looking for in the harness, there is another female plug with red and white wires. I cut this off so I could run the white wire to the starter relay(s terminal), and splice the other end into the old, and new, coil hot wire, which is the brown wire attached to my old TFI coil.
My truck fired right up. I now have to adjust timing and the carbuerator, and I should be all set. If it wasn't for the outstanding information on this site, I never would have attempted this. Good luck with your conversion.

It's me again. I left something out. The 2 wire plug on the new harness was used to power the module. Works great.

Actually, I am at that phase now. Being that I am using the wire that powered the old coil, I do not think, in my case, that removing that harness is a good idea. I am going to try to figure out what the actual hot wire is that powers the computer and just disconnect that specific wire. Try searching the forum for 'Duraspark', you may find the information that you need. Good luck.

Yep, I was intending to just leave the computer under the dash, and just disconnect it. From what I've read, it will drain the battery.
