430 is a great option for those that plan to fit truck with larger tires too?

Can someone share what rpm they run with 4.30 and stock tires @ 80 mpH?

No need to ask, do the calculations yourself and you will know. The formula is RPM= Speed x transmission gear ratio x axle gear ratio x 336 divided by tire diameter in inches.

So I have not been able to put many miles on the 4.30 truck. About 400. Have pulled a 2500 lb cargo trailer. Wont pull heavy till I have a few more miles on her. But Holy **** this thing rips! Its almost to the point where I feel the dually 3.73 must have a rag in the air box.It feels similar to a 6.0 psd i once had. Even quicker. In about 2 weeks I will latch on to the gooseneck dump trailer with a skid steer and give you guys my thoughts.

Read this on another site,

"for anyone wondering about how 4.30’s would do on the highway, at 80mph it’s only at 2100RPM with 275/70-18’s. About 13.5 mpg as well."

Well, I have been on the fence about what gears to get in my ordered 23 f250 7.3. This has enlightened me. Sticking with the 3.73 but with the elocker. Was calculating my hauling miles and with about 7000 towing miles a year with a 9500lb TT from SW PA to FL, 3.73 will be fine for my situation. Coming from a 2012 F150 with 3.73 those gears are not the problem. It's the lack of power from the 5.0 engine with this set up. I'm sure the 7.3 will tow this with ease.

My truck with 3.73s can pull 20k lbs in the mountains at 8-10k elevation. Empty it get 16-17 mpg on my regular routine. I originally really wanted the 4,30s but I do not regret this set up. Works great.

I'm hoping to get similar MPG's with my incoming 2023 F350 7.3L.

Good luck . Not happening unless you're 95% or more highway driving unloaded....

Thank you!
I'm betting that I'll match it, most of my driving will be unloaded on rural/highway roads.

I don't even bother looking at my MPG because it's so bad but I have only put 3k miles on my truck in 6 months, if it were driven more like a DD I'd watch closer. I'm hooked up to my camper 60-70% of the time, less now that winter is here, or driving in town the other time. Just looking at the instant MPG, which isn't a great indicator I get single digits while going stop light to stop light or stop and go traffic. Once the tires get moving the MPG is pretty good, but getting them moving takes a lot of fuel apparently . I've tried to baby it and drove aggressive and don't see a lot of difference in MPG.

I hear you! It's kinda stupid to care about MPG in these trucks but, I do. It doesn't matter what I'm driving. I'm just wired like that.

With 4.30's you could get over 16, with 3.73's you could get over 17. City is around 12-13 if you keep your foot out of it.

I'm seeing with my truck after 80k miles that if you can cruise at 55-65 very good mileage can be achieved 15-16.5 mpg constantly. At 70-80 it will drop but still 14-15 mpg, 80+ 13-14 mpg, at those speeds it's still very good for a heavy brick going down the road.

Is that hand calculated or going by the lieometer? I have never seen a 3/4 ton or larger gas truck get that kind of fuel milage. A 6.2 with 3.73 gears is lucky to get 10 MPG, I highly doubt a 7.3 would be that much better.
