I have a 1988 ford f150 reg cab 4x4 I-6 4spd w/creeper gear, that i crashed in january during terrible snow storm, my dad has a 1989 ford f150 extended cab 4x4 mazda spd, his motor is on the way out and the tranny does not sound good. i was woundering if i could swap the motor, trans, and transfer case to the 1989 pickup with no mods. i dont have an idea if goin from reg to extended cab makes a difference. any and all help will be helpful. thanks to the best knowlegeded person here on this kick ##### ford site!
If your Dad's truck is also equipped with the 300-6, I don't think there will be a problem.
You need to retain all the original fuel injection, computer and emission stuff on the 89, just swap in your long block. Between the 2 trucks, all the hardware should be there to perform the trannie swap with no problem, even considering the different wheelbases.
