back fuel meter acting weird

back fuel meter acting weird
Hey guys,
My rear tank was about 2/3 full, and last night I had to slam on my brakes for some idiot, and suddenly the meter read that it was totally empty. I know that sometimes the meters will fluctuate when I take hard turns or hard stop and accelerations, but it went right to empty and stayed there. 10 minutes later I tried an experiment - I mashed the brakes, and then the meter went back to where it was supposed to be! Keep in mind, there was no problem with fuel transer. So as far as I know it works again, but it appears to be a lot more sensetive to the fuel being sloshed around now. Do you think the float is screwed up, or is there just some flaky electrical relay?
