The second row captain's chairs (one side more than the other) on our 2019 Expedition makes a noise every time someone is sitting in the seat and weight shifts. That's quite often. There is 32k miles on the car, and it gets used a lot by out children. It stays stationary, though, and the slide forward essentially only gets used by me to clean the car out.
The noise seems to be coming from the outside seat track. With the seat forward, I can push/pull on the headrest side to side. hear the noise, and see excess slop on the outside track.
Is there anything that can be done about it? Seems like cramming grease in there is all I can think of. i was hoping it would be a common thing, but I'm not seeing anything.
I would think any kind of lube even just spray some WD-40 in there and it should quiet it down. Packing grease in there will be hard and the smell will never go away. WD40 smell should be gone in a day or 2
This is still an issue. 22 Expedition Max King Ranch with Captain Seats. The passenger side has an annoying rattling sound. I cannot really put my finger on it because to get my ear close enough I have to lean into the seat, and it blocks the rattle.
All the bolts seem to be tight. The rattle sound's to be coming from between the plastic trim attached to the bottom of the seat that rides over the inside track. There is also a stress rattle coming from the track itself closer to the rear.
Apart from tearing the seat apart and throwing it into the river, I know if I take it to the Ford Garage, even with Premium Care and the Extended Warranty, they are going to tell me they can't reproduce the issue. Can't trade it in because these things depreciate faster than a balloon with a hole in it. I have never ever driven anything but Fords, but I am about to go with a Palisade or something. It is just so frustrating,
If anybody is out there and has experience with this, your insight would be very much appreciated.
