It's part of the air injection system. There is supposed to be a check valve mounted to it.

No it's a check valve, not a solenoid. Ford Part Number may be CX1327. Not sure on that one 100%.

The bypass and divert solenoids are mounted on a bracket by the driver’s side valve cover.

If you look at the part I linked to above, the description includes cross reference part numbers if you want to look for an oem part. The Motorcraft CX1327 part number posted by RLA would work but would require an adapter fitting as it is female and the original part is male.

My experience with the cross over tubes, which is the tube the check valve mounts to, is that it will twist and break when you put any torque on it. So my advice would be to purchase a cross over tube and check valve and install the check valve with the cross over tube in a vice so you can't tear it up, and then install the assembly on the engine.

This is all moot if the plumbing that feed this setup is gone... If you don't have emissions inspections it may easier to delete the cross over pipe.

In any case you may find it advantageous to remove the transmission tunnel cover in the cab to get at all this better.
