I am looking into buying a 52 f100 with a 351c, c6, 9in rear. the body seems to be in good condition but I was just wondering what I should look for?
Is the front on a 52 like the front of a 50? (flat)
Thanks
Ok, take this with a grain or two of salt - I'm just fooling with you.
If you find a 52 F100, buy it quick since F100 production didn't start until '53....what you're looking at is an F1.
The front of the truck has the same basic shape as the 48-50's, but the grill area is different. 51,52 has one vertical bar and 3 upright dagmars, and the bottom of the opening is more square - sorta like an upright vacuum cleaner.
Finally, if you look close at a 48-50 you'll realize that they have NO flat surfaces on the front end. Just sweeping sexy curves all over the place.
Alright, I'm finished.....you guys can start throwing things now.
If you are inspecting a potential truck, and I think that is what you are saying, look for rust. It's your worst enemy. Anywhere water can pool: door bottoms, cab corners, bottom areas around windows, drip rails, floor boards, etc. Rusted out areas will have to be replaced and that can get expensive. Most drivetrain and body parts are readily available if you have the finacial resources. Good luck, John
