Definitely led and there is no shortage of choices and styles . If you have cordless tools allot of the bigger names have very nice lights that use the same batteries . I have adopted a 1 brand policy and keep several extra batteries charged so my next light will be the same .
I've been using an LED that has a magnet and locks into different angles. Surprising how strong the magnet is. Battery life is a non-issue, 3 yrs old and still on the cheap chinese batteries it came with. https://www.harborfreight.com/175-lu...ght-63930.html
I use a headlamp, serves two purposes, it keeps my hair back, and it lights up where I’m looking. I also have a few magnetic flashlights and a magnetic trouble light.
I've found one of these pretty handy. You can get them at most Big Box Stores or on Amazon, eBay etc. Magnet on the bottom and swivels and folds to pretty much any direction.
I have been looking for a solution for 20 years ... and so far there is none. I gets worse as you age, ask me.
Have you noticed in in spite of the brightness that the LED light gives it really is not that good .. and the shadow areas are terrible.
I did solve the problem with halogens that get too hot and are always burning out bulbs, ... I use the lowest wattage possible and they last much longer, but they still burn you fingers.
Trouble lights a aptly named, ... they are always causing trouble. And all the cords that get wrapped around the creeper wheels.
I think the only real solution is lights in the floor or mounted in the walls at floor level?
