ok here is the deal. My '88 Bronco has problems. When you have the lights on and turn the turn signal on the lights go out. Any ideas? I was thinking it was the dimmer switch. Any help would be great.

It's unlikely (probably impossible) for this to be a short. If it was a short a fuse would blow and the headlights would stay off.
If this is an intermittent problem it's an open circuit.
My guess is that the indicator lever is pushing against the headlight wires and opening an internally frayed connection in the headlight wires. This should be easy to check by removing the dash and steering wheel trim panels and watching what happens to the wires coming from the headlight switch when you move the turn indicator lever. Try also wiggling the wires with the headlights on.
Once you find the break it's just a matter of splicing in a new piece of wire.
