Hello all, I have a 2v 351W in a 1968 f100 with a 1974 block but I have 1970 heads and 1969 4v intake manifold that I would like to use. My question is all about deck height will these heads and manifold work properly on my block? I read so much about clearance or compression loss and I don’t understand all this yet. Thanks for the help. Chuck
I believe you should be fine with what you have. What are your plans, are you rebuilding it? If so then you can set the compression once you dig into the heads and figure out the combustion chamber size. You may want to pick up a block about build a small block ford engine.
The 69 block has a shorter deck than the others, but you have a 74 so no worries. The difference is very small and intake should fit fine.
Those parts should work OK.
If you want to know what you have, and know comp ratio, you can measure the parameters and calculate.
-how far piston is in hole at TDC
-head CC
-piston dish if any
-head gasket thickness
if aggressive cam check piston to valve clearance.
