I just got a new Yamaha Grizzly and did the John Bull in 20 minutes...My Jeep use to take about 3 hours. They are pretty rutted up right now, but we didn't get that much snow to really tear up anything...
LCIR (Los Coyotes Indian Reservation) in Warner Springs is a great place to go.
Stock 4X4's can navigate almost all the trails with no problems. Every run has a bypass to it so you can even try a line or 2 and back off and go around if it's something you can't make or don't want to attempt.
Don't get me wrong the place is no cake walk there are plenty of lines that you simply won't make without lockers and or a winch, but the nice part is there are easier lines on the runs were stockers can have some fun without carnage to their vehicles.
I live in LA, and i head to Azusa. it's close being only like 20 min's away. Take the 210 fwy east till you hit Azusa blvd. then make a left head up till you hit the OHV area. it's about 10 miles away from the base of the mountain. it's nice and cool due to the water. plenty of mud and sand, and if you just want to kick back and relax they have areas where you can just park your truck and relax.
Hungry Valley is nice but to dusty and hot.
To whomever asked about the Fabtech lift.... I would personally stay away from them, my friend had a 6 inch Fabtech lift on his S-10 and it rode terribley! But this is just my opinion, get a few more thoughts on it!
I would stronly suggest NOT going "off road" unless you are accompanied by another vehicle - not all breakdowns are caused by a rough road, and you could get into to trouble on ANY dirt road. If you are alone, you are in for a potentially dangerous walk.

I don't think "stronly suggest" covers that one. It should be a given! My wife and I discovered that the hard way. A long, dusty, dry, boring walk back to civilization only to discover tha AAA won't go "off road" to recover a vehicle! Had to use the old credit card for that. Almost, I say almost, dropped my AAA coverage over that one.
Happy holiday to you and yours,

has anyone been to Azusa now that's it's raining? just wondering i wanted to test my new lights and i'm afraid that it'll be like basically no area i could go.

Is there any 4x4 EZ Trail or camping events happing in Big Bear this summer?
If there is, maybe a post letting us know the date and meeting place and the dollar buy-in. OK?
