Finding a short or bad ECM?
So changed fuel pumps(dual tanks), ignition control module, map sensor and starter in last month. What it has been doing is starts cold just fine, warm forget it. So changed ICM, didn't help. In fact it's worse, started it yesterday after got warm shut it down. Nothing at all. I found it's got a short, turn ignition switch on battery drops to like 3 volts immediately. So went about disconnecting things until found it. The main power wire goes around the front to the fuse box under the hood. Touch it at fender solenoid voltage drops. So jumped that wire to eliminate a bad wire. It's somewhere from fuse box to cab power supply. Here's the questions. Can a bad ignition control module do that? Can a bad computer do that? Any other likely suspect? Searched high and low for rub wires, none. Checked headlight wires good,
The positive terminal gets hot really fast if the wire is connected. After charging battery holds charge just fine over night. This truck got me ready toss match in front seat walk away. Hope someone has a clue for me.
going to try and include a picture of the wire that's got short.
