Help Decoding VIN

Was wondering if somebody could help me decode the VIN for my new-to-me F600

F61DCB09627

I think it’s a 1976 model. Thanks in advance

1976 and 1967 used some of the same sequence numbers.

After September of 1969, the MPC says all trucks were built in the Kentucky Truck Plant, code V. Your code is C, Ontario Truck Plant.

1967 image:

1976 image

What does the title say?

Regardless of year:

F61 = F600 gas, 4x2

D = 330 2V HD FT gas V8

C = Ontario Truck Plant

B09627 = '67 or '76.

Is there a tag on the driver door below the latch with the VIN and and other codes?

There isn’t a door tag. The title reads exactly as I posted. It’s a dentside cab, so definitely not a 67.

The only tag I have found is an under hood tag riveted to the area where the hood meets the cowl. It’s a plain strip of aluminum, and not a typical door tag

So it appears to be a '76, but the Ontario code is a question mark that I can't answer.

Do you have a 4 or 5 speed trans? Two speed axle? And take a good look at your wheels. "Widow makers"?

As these trucks go, a very good combination.

Are you familiar with the 2 speed? I have Eaton videos if you want.

Any information you have is greatly appreciated. Although this is a dentside cab, do I understand correctly that the floor and firewall panels are from the 67-72 generation?

I can't answer that specifically. The cabs are the same as the pickups for the corresponding years. Fenders are different, sometimes the floors. But doors, glass, roof etc, same as the pickups.

It would not surprise me to find floors and firewalls the same even though the rest of the cab went through a "model change".

Post 5 has the videos and my version. There are more 2 speed links in the Tech Section at the top of this forum.

1963/79: Warranty Plate riveted to the left door face below the latch. Look close, it may have been painted over.

Beginning in 1970: Safety Standard Certification Label glued to the left door post (B pillar) below the striker plate.

Upper left corner of this label has the production date printed on it.
