Windshield Application 94 Club Wagon
I have a 1994 Clubwagon, are the front windshields and moulding of newer econolines compatible?
What years are ?
Can the moulding be replaced without removing the glass or is it urethane’d in with the glass ?
I believe Ford still has stock of green tinted windshields for 1997-2002 part # F7UZ-1503100-AA list price $215.00.
Moulding part # 1C2Z-1503144-AA superseded by
part # 5C2Z-1503144-AA list price $165.00.
I currently have a green tinted windshield, were their any newer windshields that are tinted a different color other than green like a shade of black ?
JWA can you help out with these questions or anybody in the glass business?
Thanks
Everything will fit the body, moldings are what we call encapsulated so they're part of the windshield itself. A savvy installer will know to look for rust all along the pinch weld and possible body cracks at the upper corners of the body. The good installer will know how to deal with both issues if they're present. I highly recommend a customer insist on specialized pinchweld primer as it prevents rust from scratches and nicks we inadvertently create during the installation process.
Hope this helps---been off-line a day or so, sorry if this is too late!

Repeating myself the moldings are part of a new/replacement windshield, I"ve never been asked to replace an encapsulated molding and would refuse to do so---its simply easier to replace the entire windshield.
You're welcome to try this DIY or call around local glass shops to get their ideas. Most will sell you a whole new windshield or charge out the wazoo for custom work not typically requested.
Where did you find those older part numbers and who shows them in stock or being available?

This is my windshield that I had installed many years ago, my windshield is perfect with no star breaks or chips, probably only has 10k miles on it. However the moulding is showing its age and is brittle from the sun and has 2 spots where the moulding has chips. So it looks like the right way to address the moulding is to replace the windshield and moulding. The windshield part # i referenced is for a 1997 E350 , Ford shows the windshield for 92-96 discontinued .
Its entirely possible to have an experienced glass installer remove the original molding without breaking or damaging the windshield and replace it with an aftermarket will fit part with a different visible profile than the original encapsulated part. You're still best advised contacting one or more local glass shops to get their input.
