Pulled my headliner. Normal?

Pulled the headliner to polish trim and install mats and the frame that runs front to back looks goofy. Is this normal or should it run against the skin of the roof?

I think they were arched up to meet roof contour, may have had glue from factory. I'm thinking of using some panel bond goop from the parts store next time I run into this, to glue it back to the roof, cleaning up the metal before glue-ing of course.

I think someone may have danced on your roof at some point. The skin popped back, but the brace didn't. There some photos of exposed supercab roof bracing in here:

X2 on I believe they normally follow the contour of the roof. Did your headliner have a bulge or hang down in the area? I do not think the support piece was bonded to the rood skin, just very close to it. But the bonding it back up idea might work with some body panel adhesive.

It is will not push back up and stay, you can remove it altogether (its tack welded) and tack weld a piece of 1/8 or 1/4 round bar stock on the backside as a stiffening rod/brace and then reinstall.

And X100 now it the time to go to this thread below

and read up on some GREAT ADVICE and DIY/how to sound proof the cab.

Yeah the headliner was droopy and warped enough that that part didn't jump out. Thanks for the link. I have Kilmat that I am putting in but I didn't realize how much space was there. I may grab some thin rigid foam insulation to add in for more thermal barrier. I also have a can of rust converter on order to spray into the corners. I like the idea of the pipe insulation or backer rod along the perimeter though not sure how much of an effect it would have.
I will be cutting a new blank for the head liner as well and while checking out threads on that I see that mine is indeed bent (this is a regular cab btw) there doesn't seem to be anything that directly attached the brace to the roof skin, or marks from tack welds. Are the welds your talking about at the ones at front and back?

Yes the front and back attachment points of the center brace are welded.

Be careful with rigid foam insulation. I knew a guy back in the '80's that used some along with spray foam that he thought would be good insulation. The truck had a nonstop squeak like the sound of a Styrafoam ice chest lid rubbing. If you have ever heard that, it was enough to drive you insane. I suggest testing it before you do anything permanent.
