I can't lose this code and can't diagnose the problem.
Code 311-Thermactor air system inoperative
I have replaced the Thermactor air pipe, the check valves (both of them, and tested the air bypass valve...they all functioning. Is there something else I can test/try to clear this code? I'm thinking this has something to do with me not passing the smog test.
OK, no bites. How about any problems related to the air pump or the black valve thing that comes right after it? I'm starting to guess that the inactive code means it's not working at all...like no air?
I think the TAB/TAD solenoids factor in here too...anyone have that experience?
It seems to run better (smoother idle)when I advance my timing to 16 degrees...I don't know if that will make my smog test better or worse.
There is a long involved troubleshooting guide in the book for the air system. If you can get your hands on it somewhere, that would be your best bet. I don't have any personal experience that would benefit you on this, sorry.
