1968 Brake Conversion
Hey Guys, I need some advice for a friend of mine. He was adding disc brakes off a 1973 F-100 to his 1968 Ford F-100. Which brake booster do you recommend to use? What years are interchangeable ? He has everything but the booster. He used the 1973 I beams , radius arms and spindles .

From what I can see, the same brake booster fits from 1968 to 1975, so just tell the parts counter monkey he needs a brake booster for a 1968 F100.

There is more to it than just a booster. The master cylinder's inner bore diameters change for manual to power brakes. You don't want touchy brakes that will send you through the windshield. Your friend needs to get more off that 1973 donor truck. Everything from the 1973's master cylinder to the proportioning valve that's mounted to the frame. Including the steel lines. Use the 1973's old master cylinder as a sample at the parts counter. ONLY buy a new master. Not a rebuilt. A lot of times rebuilts are bad right out of the box. Then buy a booster and master cylinder for a 1973.
