Make sure you loosen the correct screws. Two of them are the adjustment screws, if you mess with them you will throw it out of adjustment. The others are for the retaining ring for the bulb. Those are the ones you need to loosen. Get a flashlight and take a look first.
You want to mess with the 4 evenly spaced screws in the picture above that are labelled 385324-S
There will be a screw in the top middle, and one on the left middle. These are the adjustment screws. They probably do have springs on them, I can't remember, it's been awhile.

These are a B***h to get out and having a screwdriver with a strong magnetic field is helpful if you have fat fingers like me. Recommend pulling into a garage or over a slab because it's easy to drop one of those rather small screws. I have lost a few over the last 34 years.

Let me add that I've also used a screwdriver with a spring keeper to hold the screws to get them from out behind the fairings. Also the two handed method with screwdriver in one hand and needle nose pliers in the other.
Lastly, I leave the top right screw in till last. That way regardless of what tools you have available to make the swap that last screw can be retained by the chrome frame. As you back out the screw hold the frame in your left hand and pull it out with the screw in it. I've rarely dropped the last screw if ever using that trick.
If you are left handed maybe leave the top left till last?
