I need your help!

While changing the spark plugs on my 01 expedition(4.6) I removed the bolts on the fuel rail to get at the coils a liitle better. Now I can't get the holes on the fuel rail lined back up. What do I need to do? It seems like pressure is keeping me from forcing the rail down.

If you are talking fuel line pressure, the easiest way to relieve pressure is follow the prep for changing the fuel filter.
Locate the inertia relay (fuel cut-off) assembley. In my F150, it is located behind the kick panel on the passenger front side.
Unplug the connector on top of the assembley.
Start the engine (after ASSURING the loose fuel rail is out of harm's way)
Let the engine run until it dies.
You now have no fuel pressure in the line.
When done, plug the connector back where it belongs.
Turn the key on, wait a few seconds before cranking, then it should start right up.
Good luck.

P.S. I would bve suprised to learn fuel line pressure kept you from getting the fuel rail back in place.

Let us know how it turns out.

WHOA!!!, If the bolt holes won't line up, then the injectors are probably not seated. You go starting that thing and get some fuel down in one of the spark plug pockets. POOOFFFF! Now that's a Fire!!
Find the shrader valve in the fuel line and bleed off the pressure there( it looks like a tire valvestem in part of the metal fuel line).

What does the idiot Brian mean publicly spanked. I was just asking for some info. You guys must be from the east where courtesy and respect are unheard of. I'm not a mechanic doing this for a living. I'm a high school teacher/coach who tries to save a little money here and there. By the way, I finished the job last night and the thing runs great.

That just means that he was just realizing, that maybe his approach wasn't the safest way to do things.
We have plenty of respect and couresy around here, what are you implying about us being from the East??? I am just a pround american who appearantly resides in a different part of the country than you do.
I don't think that it is very polite to call someone an idiot just for admitting a mistake. It takes more of a man (or woman) to admit when they might be mistaken, it doesn't make them an idiot.
I am sure that he will not try to help you in the future since you were so grateful to him this time.

Anyway, glad to hear that you got it running good again,

Jimmy

Graig,
Not sure about the "idiot" comment. That's one of the problems of type messages, there is no body language or voice inflection to clue others in on innuendo.
For the record, I have high respect Jimmy and was simply stressing (in a tounge-in-cheek manner) that he was very correct and I was wrong.
There was NO lack of respect show by either party.
Hope that clears things up a little.
Now, if you were calling me an iodiot, please don't....

The noun "idiot" has 1 sense in WordNet.

1. idiot, imbecile, cretin, moron, changeling, half-wit, retard -- (a person of subnormal intelligence)

That's not me....is it ?????

Besides, if you were calling me an idiot, I'd refer you to the Forum Guidelines and ask that you read them and abide by them.

I will be glad to help in any way I can with any future problems that anybody might have, as long as it doesn't involve fuel rail re-installation.

By the way, I'm from Alabama. Says so right under my avatar.

Hey we learn something every day. You now know what to do when it comes to seating fuel rails so you have been approved to give advise on that too.

Oh, by the way, he double posted the same question in the fuel/carb forum, another no-no

I guess I misinterpreted who was doing the name calling. I do apologize and thanks for the help. At the time I thought you were poking fun at my question. The remark about being from the east was wrong. The only reason I said that is because my mom re-married a guy from New Hampshire and he always replies with some smart comment. I'm from Texas and we don't put up with that.

Ah...ain't it nice when it all works out in the long run!
On a serious note (VERY serious) Jimmy made a good point that might have been glossed over, but is worth noting.
FTE is a GREAT forum for sharing information, ideas, etc. BUT....we should remember to be cautious about what we do with the information we get. We pay nothing for it, but hopefully it has some value.
When safety issues are involved, we should be careful about who we listen to. Jimmy was wise to point out the potential uh-oh with my post. Even if it did not affect this particular situation, somebody might have read my post and remembered it one day, then all of a sudden...POOF...uh-oh .....
Thanks guys!

Stop the presses...this just dawned on me......
AHHHHH...now I think I get it...you thought I was refering to YOU getting spanked?!?!? NO...I was refering to ME getting spanked.
I got spanked and deserved it.
All makes more sense now!

Double posting isn't a crime punishable by jail time or anything. It is just best to post in the forum that you think is the best match for your problem. This way the server doesn't get too overloaded and the site works faster for everybody.
We try to be one big happy family around here and we really are here to help. Sometimes a small joke here and there can be misinterpreted when reading without actually seeing the persons face that is typing.
Now that we have gotten that all straightened out, All of the double posting charges have been dropped against you. Your record has been expunged.
It is really a common problem with the newer members, so don't feel like you were the first to ever do it.
Welcome aboard and hopefully you will find all of the info that you need here. And don't be afraid to ask, the only dumb question is the one that you don't ask.
