Question Brakes

When ever I push the brakes to a certain spot there is a really loud squeal. It only happens when they are in this one place, a little less than halfway down, and when im going less than 20 miles per hour. Its really loud and in stop and go traffic, its sooo annoying. The brakes are working really well though. They're better than my dads expidition. But they are really annoying. Any help on how to stop it would be appreciated.

Ocassionally a semi-metallic pad will get an odd bit of lining and do this for a few miles. If it doesn't go away, (and I don't think Bronco brakes have squeal indicators), you may want to check to make sure the pads have anti-rattle clips installed. They are usually small pieces of spring steel that keep the pads rigid when they are not rubbing the rotor. They are intended to reduce the kind of partial pedal squeal you are experiencing. As a last resort, (if none of the above is the case) have the rotors checked/turned and check your wheel bearings for slop/play. The rotor can be fine but if its not being held parallel to the pads you will get squeal.

I agree with Greystreak.....and he is right..there are no wear indicators. Just have to keep on checking them for wear.

I had that same problem on my Explorer. Whoever did the last brake job put silicone grease on the back of the front pads as an anti-squeal agent. I don't use that myself, but I guess it works, however, they used too much and some got on the friction surface. I cleaned rotors and pads with brake cleaner, sanded them, and used the silicone rubber type anti-squeal stuff on 'em and the squeal is gone.

Another thing to look for, depending on how and where you drive, but I have had to take off my pads and pick a small pebble out of em. The heat from braking can allow tiny bits of dirt and gravel to get lodged causing a nasty squeal.
