In process of stripping down engine for removal I found the circled sensor with a broken wire leading to it and don't know what it's for. Had no codes and haven't found the other end of the wire at this point. I can tell it's been like this for a long time. It threads into the block. Not sure what year the newly rebuilt block is, but it does not have a provision for this, no threaded hole. Tis confusion.
Unless my memory is failing me the gauge was working when I parked the truck a month ago. Can't verify that now though. I can post another pic of the new motor on the stand that shows just bare block where the sender is installed on the existing block. I have to think there are years where that was the case. Going to have to do some research.
Looks like a 302. That's the oil pressure switch for the gauge on the dash. If your other motor is a Windsor, it has this hole in the same spot. If this isn't the case, post a picture.
Well, my ******* was wrong. Here's the proof. Must of had a few beers before making that faulty determination. Just have to find the other end of that wire now!
The old sensor is leaving with the old motor to it's new owner so I ordered a new one. Are they color coded? The old one is white and the new has a blue body.
