Hi everyone, I'm adding a 99 Super duty intercooler to my OBS, and leaning to sticking with the stock turbo. I have bellowed uppipes, WW2 and baby swamps (150) injectors, 5 speed. I'd like to put a smaller A/R housing on when I do the intercooler. Will 0.84 A/R be too much? Also considering adding the KC turbine when I rebuild the turbo.
Any suggestions or feedback, specifically if the KC turbine is worth it and what A/R housing would be best.

i have a full kc drop in turbo. I got the .84 housing as well and I think it’s a great fit. Very high quality turbo as well
I have the KC balanced assembly in my truck, stock exhaust housing. I noticed a difference in performance, so with an intercooler and good tunes, you should have a great combo with the smaller housing. I struggle with EGTs on my truck but I think I have an exahust leak on the driver's side manifold, and my Swamps tunes have always ran hot.
Jarret, thanks for the reply. I have swamps tunes as well and also struggle with EGT's, so looking forward to the intercooler improving things. My tunes are stock, hi idle, std, hwy mpg, hot, extreme. Currently I like the hwy mpg the best, it is decent power with no smoke. Seems pretty safe on that tune in regards to EGTs. Std and hot feel pretty similar to each other and are a large increase in power, will push a bit of black smoke if the turbo isn't up and can easily climb EGT's past 1250. When towing in the Std tune I find myself with lots of pedal left and it's touch and go to keep the EGT safe. Thinking if it was just 200 degrees cooler that other tune would be more usable.
I imagine I'm due for some new tune options. Glad to hear you like the KC assembly. Any thoughts as to how my WW2 would compare to their compressor wheel? I've tried to see comparative specs but running into a wall there.
Yeah definitely slower spool times but general decrease in EGT going to S300. Better tunes and my 6.0IC I think I could run the 1.0 housing with no problem... Just gotta get some better tunes...

Does the piping from the 99 hook up to the obs 7.3's ok or do you have to modify the piping? I see 99' IC setups now and then for good prices but wasn't sure if they would work on an OBS 7.3
I have an extension on the IC end of the passenger side pipe, something like 4" or so. Other than that, it fits fairly well. I actually think I have my driver's side pipe upside down but it won't fit the other way so I just left it.

Jarret, curious to see a pic of your tube setup if you have a chance. Did you weld on another 4" or use another boot?
Cool. Thanks for sharing those pics. That helps a lot. Like the wrap you put on the pipes. I was wondering about those fittings in the spider. Guess I will drill and tap them to NPT and plug them.
Yeah you can just tap them to whatever you have laying around.
I used header wrap for my pipes. In retrospect, I should have looked up the proper application process for it (soak it in water and then wrap as tight as possible). I also put spare used E99 IC boots that came with the kit over the pipes on high contact points to prevent wear and then covered them with the wrap.
