I would say there is a very good chance they are the same.
As for old post, for me this post is now. I am getting dough together now to order a monoleaf rear spring from Sacramento Vintage Ford, listed for an F-1, to put under the rear of my 46. Mike

Reason: additoin
I bought my rear suspensin thr R & B Obsolete. This is a nice "kit', it mounts in the original hanger place, some holes need to be redrilled, it suppsoed to be a bolt-on, and it could be, BUT I bolted and welded the hangers just to be sure. This set-uo drops the truck app. 6' over stock R & B's sales guy said it would not work, BUT.It is a shame these truck suppliers overlook the 42/7 truckks. I have been around these 42 thru 52 Ford trucks forever, so.
The frames are "identical" from about the middle of the truck cab area REARWARD, the springs, hangers, etc even have the same part numbers, so...
The trans crossmember should be the same, the BIG change is at the front crossmember forward, the crossmember is a lot bigger than the 42/7 trucks and the frames is "extended" for the bumper area. The axle minus hardware witll interchange allowing use of the later shocks.

I haven't been able to try out the suspensison yet, this truck is a "long term" project, or as when the money is extra.
Thanks 46acres. I know about long term projects. Started on mine in 92. This summer it SHOULD become a regular driver. Last year I put 10-20 miles on it.
I have one 46 that I have been driving most all of 35 years now,( small block, automatic, 9" rear, it has been a very dependable truck) the project truck or "money pit" as i call it has been in the works for about two years now, AND I also have enought parts and pieces to build another for a maybe someday project!
I started this line in 7/03, primarily trying to figure out if F-1 monoleafs would fit the jailbars. Now, 1.5 years later mono's are due in tomorrow. They are coming from Sacramento Vintage Ford, which has small print saying that when using the monoleafs with reversed eyes on the rear, mods are needed to the hangers. Wanting to know more I posted on the 48-60 forum, since there are a lot more F-1 owners there that should have the expertise (sorry group members for the redundency here). No response was received for quite a while considering the size of that forum. Finally found out that very few F-1's there have mono's, and much fewer than that (if any) have them on all four corners. I have front single leafs now. One man had a very bad experience running them on a C-20, on non paved roads. One other had rear monoleafs with nonreversed eyes and loved them. My 46 1/2 ton won't see loads or nonpaved roads. I will let you know how the installation goes. Current rear springs are a new set of 6 leafs, with new pins and bushings. They are like immovable. It was very interesting that one poster said a stack of 6 was pretty stout in a truck if it wasn't going to see any loads. He said many there were going with 4 or 5. The usual practice seemed to remove everyother one.

hey guys, i'm curious, i thought the 48 - 52 frame was 34" at the rear but stepped in to 32" at the front whereas the 42 - 47 had a 32" frame right through, i own a few of both but the earlier ones r out at the farm and u have my curiosity arroused, any ideas?

yup beds are the same - except for the swage on the side of the bed - still trying toi find out if the 48-52 crossmembers will fit - can someone measure me up a crossmeber from a 42-47
cheers
OK I swear I won't drag this thread up again. But. I finished the installation of the Sacramento Vintage rear monoleafs with REVERSED EYES and it came out GOOD.
Remember they were advertised for F-1s. Installation was pretty easy. Front rear hanger has to be turned upside down, and will still line up with existing frame holes. 3/16 inch ground from backside of reversed hanger.
Rear shackel squared on inside with die grinder (quick with not much grinding required). Process was expedited by hangers already bolted to frame, with bed unmounted.
Results: Rearend dropped 4.5 inches measured at back of frame, 3 inches between top of axle and bottom of axle bumper, 39 lb weight reduction compared to 6 leaf stacks which were removed. Dont try this without reversing front hangers, because that would require a lot of material removal (1 inch).
The most amount of time in the installation was associated with painting the new parts and then getting them to dry with the cool temps.
Mono's were about 1 inch longer than the stock type mainleafs which required bumping the axle back about 3/8 inch to center on the springs.
I think this is going to be a good setup for me. I can now jump up and down on the rear frame and get some movement!
46- have u taken any pics of the new ride height?, i was about to drop a jag front and rear under a 42 - 47 frame, but i like the idea of leaf springs out back.
what ride height is there measured in the middle of the truck, between running boards and ground? what rolling diameter wheel/tyre package?

I used R & B under the rear of 47 and Fat-Man Fabicration under the front, my running boards are now about threee inches off the ground, figured it dropped the truck around 6" total compared to my "stock" 46. It looks good, but wouldn't want it any lower.
