10x15 crager wheels

I’ve been looking for a set of old school crager aluminum slots and finally found a set. Spent hours sanding and polishing them so Sunday I sprayed the cab. Then I went to install the wheels and the front ones hit the dust shield and caliper. I trimmed the shield and grinded the caliper so they would fit. These trucks came with 15” wheels and they are not car wheels. Did anyone ever have the same Problem or knows

why they don’t fit?

Wrong backspacing. Look at your tie rod ends. They're probably up against them too.

And another thing...Even if they do have the correct backspacing, aluminum wheels are much thicker than factory steel wheels.

My "Vision" wheels had proper back spacing, bolt pattern and center hole size but hit the caliper bolt head that holds the brake "slide" in place .Finally replaced the hex head bolt with a Allen head bolt which gave clearance.Dust shield was fine on my 2wd 1976 302. In the long process of reading about wheel fitting for my truck, it seems this is a bit of a struggle but works out eventually. No real answer I guess to your particular problem aside from it seems to be pretty common.

Thanks for the replies, backspacing is good, it had chrome 15x10s on it. I guess it is the aluminum wheel thickness
