Driver's side rear drum brake issue

1988 F250 HD driver's side brake grabs (in an elliptical fashion) after a short time driving. I can feel the grab while coasting just before coming to a stop. Without pulling a load, I can smell brake shoe on the driver's side rear tire after stopping. Pulling a heavy trailer increases the odor especially after coming down a mountain. I recently replaced both parking brake cables after feeling the same conditions. One cable was seized so I just did both. Parking brake feels/works great now. Any thoughts as to what it might be? I'm going to pull the wheel/drum just to see what's what - maybe I screwed something up. Initially I thought it might be warped front rotors but the smell it definitely from the left rear.

I decided that the driver's side drum probably warped and replaced it. Everything else looked normal.
