Anyone know where I might find parts for the Eaton two-speed shifter? I need the heavy duty torsion spring, which broke. I see complete units with motors and all, but I just need the darn spring. Its on a 1971 C600. Thanks.
When I worked in a Ford dealership years ago. We sold tons of parts for two speed rear ends. They broke like crazy. I would think any GOOD big truck dealer could get you the parts. They are all the same between the brands.

As per the prior post, if you have the axle codes we can see what the OEM was, might still be the same axle.
Page 12 here has a spring, but I did a generic search for Eaton 2 speed parts:
If you don't have a warranty tag or the numbers for the axle are missing, do a search by "eaton axle identification". Eaton has all kinds of PDFs on line showing how to ID axles going, as my old man used to say, "...way back."
Hey all,
thanks for the replies...good info.
I took the shifter completely off and got it up on the workbench. Lots of issues!
The brushes were stuck and the two-way limit switch is broken as well as the big shifter spring.
Doing some research, I found that the Eaton two speed unit is pretty darn universal from axle to axle. You can buy a new complete unit for big bucks and there are rebuild parts here and there on Ebay, etc.
I found a complete unit NEW for 45 bucks, the catch being it's a 24 volt unit. What I'm going to do is buy that and swap in my 12 volt motor...or worst case, just steal out the switch and shift spring.
kind of a pia, but n ow I know exactly how these units work!
