1998 4.2 to 1993 5.0 EFI

Hey, I'm new here but is it worthwhile/possible to swap a 5.0 efi into a 1998 F150.

Welcome to FTE!

Possible? Yes.

Worthwhile? IMO no. You really need to get a '98 donor truck to get all the electrical stuff you need to make it work.

Is your '98 running? Or blown up?

My 98' is my daily rn, I have no issues with it with ~280k on it. The only problem with it is the paint and a small exhaust leak that appeared the other day. I have a 93 on my parents yard that hasn't run for a while but as far as I'm aware the engine is in good condition.

A big downside is that the 4.2 has higher horsepower (210 vs 185) and similar torque output as a truck 5.0 that old.

If you really want a 5.0 swap, I’d find a salvage yard 5.0-equipped Exploder or Mountaineer and go to town. What that takes, I don’t know (I lied...splicing harnesses, lining up engine mounts, etc), but maybe you can tell us one day.
