Hello!
I've been lurking for a while, as I've been on a long hunt for just the right truck. I've owned several Ford's over the years. My first vehicle I every owned (back in 1992) was an 86 F150 RCLB XL 4x4, had a 3"bl and 33's, old school bed bar with 7 DC 130w Super Offroader lights. I loved that truck, but unfortunately being young & dumb, I beat it within an inch of its life before selling it because I couldn't afford to fix it. I've since had 2 dentside pickups (77 F150 RC stepside & 78 F250), 3 Broncos (79, 84 & 88) an 86 F350, an 89 F350, a 90 F250 and now I'M BACK!!
I found a clean, well maintained 2003 Excursion XLT 4x4 5.4 with 99k!! Best of all, I got it for an incredible price, due to an uneducated owner who was looking to downsize. He thought it needed a motor because it was making a god-awful noise. That noise was a combination of tired idler and tensioner pulleys, and disintegrating a/c clutch and pulley bearing! I could tell during my inspection that the noises were definitely not internal and looking at how well everything else looked, except the telltale wobbling pulleys and rough looking belt. I didn't haggle much since is asking price was already less than half of what it should've been, got him down another $300, brought it home and ordered up a Gates serpentine kit (idler, tensioner & belt), a Motorcraft a/c clutch plate & pulley, then got to it once they arrived (she's as quiet as a church mouse now!). In the meantime, I thoroughly went through the truck, top to bottom, bumper to bumper and am absolutely stunned at the lack of work it needs! I'll be doing a full maintenance on her, touching up a few minor cosmetics and adding a few additional upgrades that it hasn't already gotten. I look forward to hanging around, checking out what you guys got and sharing my progress and adventures!
A/C clutch plate was in pieces and the bearing on the pulley was so hammered I got showered with ball bearings as soon as I started to remove it!

I used to live in Baldwin.
