A few weeks ago we had thread where I learned that eBay was phasing out PayPal. Sellers will start getting paid directly by eBay. Well today it was my turn. I don't like it. Now money from my truck parts sales will be comingled with our house checking account. My wife of course will be good about it but its just another thing to watch and take care of. Here is what they sent me after I jumped thru the hoopsear Abe,
Congratulations! Since you updated your account details, eBay is now managing payments for your account.
This means:
You get paid directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. If you haven’t already done so, please add a bank account so you can get paid. You can add your bank account from the Selling Overview in My eBay or from the Payments tab in Seller Hub.
No more PayPal payment processing fees. No more separate monthly fee payments. You will pay an updated final value fee¹, consisting of a category-based percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus a fixed fee per order.² Most sellers will pay the same or less than before.³ See fee details
We will initiate payouts within two business days of payment confirmation. You may choose to receive available funds to your bank account weekly or daily, as funds are available. Learn more about payouts.
What’s more
Your eBay selling fees and expenses will be automatically deducted from your earnings before you get paid. The remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account. Examples of eBay selling fees include but are not limited to: insertion fees, listing upgrades, and store subscription fees.
You can cover the costs of refunds and other charges from your bank account or credit card when your available, processing and on hold funds are not sufficient to cover the refund amount.
You can access everything you need on eBay: consolidated fees, refunds, returns and more. You can view all your Payouts activity in Payments options in My eBay or in the Payments tab in Seller Hub.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't give anyone direct access to my personal, and especially, my main bank accounts. If I need to do outside business, I either use a separate credit card or a separate bank account for these types of transactions. For me, any accounts associated with ebay selling would be it's own, separate account. it's too easy for some entity like ebay to decide a buyer should be refunded for their dissatisfaction and take my money away without notice. I don't need them doing that from the same account my house payment comes from. In today's ability to do electronic account management from home, it's pretty easy to maintain account balances and move money from the accessible business accounts to the more private and secure ones anytime as necessary.
you must protect the main personal bank accounts from ebay etc

I agree. Additionally not really right on subject but in the same vane, I dont give my regular email address and then I make up a password JUST for websites I dont know so they cant go on a phishing expedition trying to use said password to get access to other accounts. I made a purchase recently from a fraudulent website which offered to 'Establish an account" Besides trying to steal the money for a product they had no intention of delivering, I believe they also were mining passwords to use to break into other accounts. Many folks use the same passwords over and over for their on line workings... the time we are living in seems to resemble an intersection of the "Wild Wild West" and today's incarnation of "Roaring Twenty's" (2021) for how prolific the bad guy is
I've been selling on ebay for 15+ years. I got a notification yesterday saying my payouts will be put on hold until I give them my bank account. In response I deleted all my current auctions and jumped ship. I don't appreciate being held hostage, ebay.
I've had more luck selling locally on OfferUp lately anyways. No fees and no shipping with local sales.
That's their way of phasing us small time sellers out to become more like amazon, in my opinion. However, I would probably setup a separate bank account for ebay if you're willing to continue to use them.
