I have a 1955 ford f100. My problem is the power brake pedal doesn’t come up all the way. In doing so the front disc brakes tend to stick. The pedal returns up to 6 1/2 inches from the floor but the pedal should come up to 7 inches from the floor. Do you think the brake rod needs to be adjusted? I have tried doing this to no avail. The only thing I can think is is bleeding brakes and or power booster vacuum source isn’t enough? Or brake pedal is hanging up on floor as it comes thru the bottom of the floor.
thanks

If you feel the brakes are dragging and the pedal not returning it sounds like something binding and holding your pedal from returning . Lengthening the rod will put more pressure on the MC and cause worse drag , shortening it will drop the petal further . Can you pull the pedal up , has a residual brake valve been improperly installed ? What brakes do you have ? Drum - drum , disc - drum or disc - disc ?
Hi. I have disc drum power brakes. I can pull up the pedal. At 6 1/2 from the floor the front calipers stick. But pulling up another half inch releases the brakes. I agree something is binding. First I am putting the vacuum line back to the bottom of carb spacer. I switched it to a port off manifold on my y block manifold. Then maybe shorten brake rod. Maybe it’s the way the pedal is mounted on pivot point. Or it’s binding on plate where the brake pedal comes threw the floor.

That was going to be my question. Do you have a return spring on your brake pedal? It needs one to prevent the situation you're describing. If your pedal shaft is hanging up on the floor, that's an issue you'll want to address, as well.
The problem could be the lack an inline 2 psi Residual Brake Valve or the use of a to high a pressure 10 psi Residual Brake Valve. i believe the 2 psi valve is used for disc brakes the 10psi is for drum brakes.
I have the stock spring for the brake pedal. I didn’t think if maybe the spring is just tired. I sprayed ph blaster on pivot arm that brake pedal is bolted on. I’m going to crawl under truck and have my wife push on pedal and lift it up and try to see where the interference is. The brake system has a proportional valve similar to Chevrolet it came on cpp kit. Test test test.

Ok final update. My problem was a mixture of things. Rubbing pedal on panel coming thru floor. Brake push rod needed adjustment. And everyone was right the return spring was probably mounted wrong. So now I’m all great. Thanks to everyone.
