How easy would it be to have a cruise control put onto my 2000 ranger automatic? Its the one option that my truck didn't have that I really wanted. Now that I've had it for 3 years I'm thinking that I'll keep this one and if I do that means cruise control.
It sucks driving from one end of the state to another without having cruise (especially when the road is straight, level, and devoid of anything interesting).
Who would do something like this - me, the dealer, someone else? Would it be tough to install? I'm envisioning that its just a module that gets plugged into the engine along with another module onto the steering column.
It's a little bit more then that, but you can do it yourself. Ford used to make aftermarket cruise control kits, I don't know if they still do, but there are other companies that make it. I used to work at an air conditioning shop that installed them, I didn't but other installers there did, and it wasn't that hard. You can check with your dealer, or aftermarket installers (radio shops, truck accessory shops, etc...). If you are going to do it yourself, do a search online for "aftermarket cruise control" you'll find it.
