LED tail light out

Just noticed my left tail light is out. It's led. I cracked the lense with a 2x6 a while back. Washed it the other day and I guess it must have gotten water in there. Any thoughts on a fix. do I have to replace the whole unit of maybe a fuse? Assuming there is no 'bulb" per se.

thoughts.

Thanks

I would take the light off the truck and put it under a heat lamp in my garage for half a day to see if I could bake out any moisture. If it worked after baking it out I'd make sure to seal the Crack.
Also, don't literally bake it. You really just need to keep it at a temp above ambient for a few hours to get the moisture to out if it's indeed cracked and free breathing the outside air.

Whether or not it comes back to life I think you are in the market for a new tail light.

If anyone has a used pair, let me know, Mine is a 2018 with BLIS LED. I actually broke the lenses on both sides a couple of years ago. these things are paper thin.

So, this is what's it's come to...You've got to be kidding me. The cost of these things is nothing short of highway robbery. This kind of crap gives loan sharks a good name.

Seems ironic that you can sink a fish find/ chart plotter with all it's electronics and it will continue to work. A tail light that gets some water mist can get into a small crack and it rubs it out. Not to mention they are about the same price.

Let's turn this into a nice poem:

'Twas the night before vacay and out in the drive
Not a tail light was working, despite all I tried
The tail lights were hung by the chimney with care
In the hopes they would dry out from all the hot air
The children were crying, would not come out from their beds
While visions of lost deposits danced in my head.
Mom with a stern look and I in crouched in fear
While spinning a story that wasn't quite clear.
I said I could fix it, I said oh please dear
I read it online, in this forum right here.

Away to my laptop I flew with a flash
Flipped open pc and we both watched it crash
The truck in the drive with new fallen snow
The kids now with their back packs all ready to go.
When what to their wondering eyes should appear
A dad with no tail lights who sits in despair.

Robert,

Thanks. I found this on Tasca at $708. Which kinda seems reasonable given my trip down ebay lane. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...-lh-kc3z13405b

Looking at the one I have drying by the fireplace, not sure how you'd get them without the LEDs? They look like they come with them only. Or am I wrong there. Can you actually service the LEDs? The lights are not working, The tail light can easily be fixed with some 3m clear film. But, I don't see a way to service the LEDs.

Thoughts

David

LEDs are pre installed, I looked at my old one for a way to remove them but the only way is to split the lense assembly. i think thats why the cost is up there, many small screws way up inside and impossible to get to unless you have long spider fingers and a very very small bit
i saved my old on incase decided to split it and use the leds for some other project
the broken one

Good news! The drying by the fireplace actually worked. I have the 3m clear film coming on Monday to seal them properly. I'll likely remove them both, leave them by the fireplace for a few hours to get all condensation out and then apply the 3m film over the cracks.

Thanks for the info all .

Now you have to add to your poem. I enjoyed reading it and want to see it finished.
