How much does the shop get to do the holes in the Triton engines? What are the tools?
The best answer I can give is for you to ask the shop. I could tell you the guy down the road from me charges $50 each, yet your shop could charge $100 each. So no matter what anyone tells you, it's likely wrong.

I was just generalizing. Was wondering if they use the same tools in the machine shop as they do on the car? I didnt expect the exact answer, was just curious in general what it costs, cant be the only guy had it done.
That would be good if search functions had a clue what I was looking for...Reading every post will get you the same results in about the same time. IMO, of course
Now we are discussing the search function
I had kind of considered the vastness of this forum thinking at least a couple guys had this done. Every once in a while there is a gem in this forum if a guy looks long enough but they few and far.

The search feature is indeed mentioned as it's far more reliable and helpful than you seem to be assuming.
Using the "search this forum" dialog box and entering "blown spark plug" you'll discover more than enough information about this topic.
It wasnt about blown spark plug. It was originally intended to ask how much is the machine shop charge to do them? I got other problem onceI start looking it over anyway. Someone did a makeshift repair to a stud not sure how to really fix. This gem ran when I bought it and I had guessed at a intake problem. Someone was working on it and attempting the in truck fixes.
It would pay me to buy an engine and get on with it. Might not solve all my problems with this cobble job but would be in the right direction. The labor is tedious.
Does the ATD tool install the Timeserts? I see E-Z lok makes one also. Also appears different tools for the 4.6 2v and the 5.4 3v. Am I reading it correct that the materials or the inserts are 13$ a hole? I see they sell sets of 5, guys like me fix one side a time etc. Same for some parts. But I can certainly see wanting to go to the oil pump if its low, they said it wear right out.
Where I live the dealers usually don't do the holes broken studs whatever....
They call in a mobile guy who specializing in above & he has ALL the special tools & drill bits etc..
Charge is usually $100.00 cdn. per hole ....But he does give quite a break if doing multiple holes...
Each job varies as you/he can get into extra time for a real bad job??

The Time Sert kit 5553 will do 2v heads - 1.9, 3.0, 4.6, 5.4, 6.8, the 3v kit is different.
Packs of 10 inserts, 51459, are on Amazon for $120.
I picked up a used 5553 kit on ebay for $280.
I repaired a blown #3 in a campground with minimal tools, having the heads off would be easy, fortunately I had the kit with me.
