Is everyone else having issues with the rear view and front view cameras being very cloudy? Not pixelated or striping, but almost like the lens is dirty, but it’s not.
I believe there are protective covers built into the cameras that protect the actual lenses, and moisture or dirt has probably gotten in there.
Likely the only way to fix it is replace the cameras.
I think you are describing the same thing I notice from my front camera. Not sure the best way to describe it, not only is it not clear when in the front view, but also when looking at the overhead 360 view the front camera shows a gray patern in front of the truck. When looking at the lens itself a cloudy/milky appearance can be seen surrounding the center. I think all of these things are signs of a bad camera. I haven't had the dealer look yet but it should be covered under warranty.
On a side note, I was amazed at how much cleaner and clearer the rear view picture was in my friends 2015 RAM. So much better than my 19 F250.
If the RAM camera had a magnification capability built in like the Ford, that would be great.
Zoom is nice, surprised that they don't have it, or didn't(2015). All I know is the image quality was so much better. Hopefully Ford will step up their game in the near future, source better cameras. I think they have some catching up to do in that respect.
Mine got cloudy and I had it replaced under warranty. What it looked like to me was that the black plastic around the lens had started to degrade and looked a little grey or like it was starting to crystalize. My theory is that the crystals started to catch more light and refract directly into the lens which caused it to appear cloudy. I could be wrong though.
My cameras are mediocre at best. I am not impressed. I took it to the dealer and they had a brand new F-150 sitting next to mine. They both had the same lousy image quality.
